Ratoncito Perez
So one day as I was eating lunch with my host family, I asked them about what happens when a kid loses a tooth, because in the US we have the tooth fairy, so I was wondering if they had something like that too. My host mom told me about the little mouse they have called Ratoncito Perez. Ratoncito means “Little mouse” in Spanish and Perez is a popular last name here in Spain. (I love the fact that he gets a last name :) ). The kids have to hide the tooth under their pillow or somewhere in the house and then he comes and brings them money or toys. The neighbor girl had just lost a tooth and Ratoncito Perez brought her 3 euros! What a lucky girl. So, I thought this little mouse figure was pretty funny-and my host mom promptly explained to me that the mouse wasn’t actually real-it is the parents that put the money under the pillow and I was like umm..Yes, I am familiar that concept. Haha. Anyways I love the idea of Ratoncito Perez. Maybe he will have to come to my house when I have kids- then they will really be confused when they go to school and will be the only kids in class with visits from this little mouse. :)
