A summarazation of los eventos de Thursday and Friday!

Ok so I realized that my whole Mari's a clutz blog overshadowed the events of actual importance that took place on Thursday and Friday!

I am writing this on Monday, So I will try and remember e
verything that took place! :) How fortunate for you all that I am sparing you the unnecessary amount of detail that generally accompanies my entries! hehe jk...kind of!

Also I hope you appreciate the Spanglish title :)

Anyways...
Thursday I woke up later in the morning because we don't have classes til the afternoon. I met up with friends at 12 in the plaza mayor because they were having their mercado. It is a popular day to be out and about for the people of Segovia! I know that my madre went there to stock up for the week :) It was fun to look around and
see all of the little stands. After that I went out shopping with some of my lady friends to check out the little shops in Segovia. They actually have a ton of clothing stores here, and European fashion is so trendy and cute. I just want to buy everything- it is also tempting cause it is their season of "rebejas" -discounts until march (or so my host family told me). Later that day we had arts and culture class and learned about cave drawings. We found out that Spain and France had the most cavernous art in all of the world! ok I don't know why that would be of importance for you all to know... haha maybe a crossword puzzle someday...or maybe something to rattle off to impress your friends and families, or prospective love interest. ;) Ok anyways afterwards we met up as a group to walk around Segovia at sunset. We stopped at a candy store and had a little bit of sugar. It was amazing :) That night a couple of us got together to see check out the nightlife, though it was surprisingly dead! (Although that is probably cause the people in Spain don't even start going out until like 1 or 2).

OOOK and now for Friday!
This was like my favorite day here so far! I didn't have class at all, which was a nice break. I got to catch up on a little bit of computer time too, which is always nice. I only have internet access when I am at school, which is slightly annoying. I didn't realize how reliant on internet I was until my time was limited!
Then I headed home for lunch! My host brother was home for lunch, which was fun. At the lunch table Fernando and Eva (My host brother and sister) were having an arguement over who would get to be the godmother or godfather of the child that their other sister was going to have. It definitely reminded me of something that would happen at home. They were both supporting their opinions with all the reasons and qualitie
s that would make them the better canidate as the mom tried to control the debate and change the topic. Then Fernando decided that he hoped that the baby would be a girl, because the his brother-in-law is a fan of a different Futbol team, and he couldnt stand to see his nephew a fan of a different team. :) Oh and my host mom got her hair done (she was so excited about it) it was so cute, and she said that her hair stylist's name was Magdalena and I told her that I had a cousin with that name...it was exciting :)

After that I met up with my group at the Alcazar (which is the castle in Segovia). The artist who designed the sketches for Disney's Sleeping Beauty lived in Segovia and used this castle for inspiration for his drawings. There are many importance royalty that lived in this castle including Queen Isabel and Fernando! Christoper Columbus had even come to the castle too! The architecture was beautiful and their was so many detailed works of art in the Castle as well. Our professor came with us and told us all about the history and legends of the castle which was super interesting. My favorite part though was meeting my new little friend Lucia. She is the 6 year old daughter of my professor! In the middle of the tour she decided to latch onto me, so I got to hang out with her for the rest of the tour. It was fun! Katie looked over at me sitting with her and she told me she was thinking "Wow I bet Mari can't hear anything that Pilar is saying...but thats ok She'd probably rather play with the kid anyways"...she knows me so well! :) We also got to climb to the top of the castle and see the amazing view of Segovia! It is such a beautiful city!

After the castle a couple of my lady friends and I went to La Colonial for Coffee (This is like our favorite hang out place). We played Phase 10 for a while and talked about our trip! Later that night, after dinner I went over to a friends apartment and we had ladies night. We played a bunch of games and then hung around talking til 1! I love the people on our trip and I know we are getting really close. This makes being in a country away from home a lot more fun and less stressful!
