Es tiempo para acostumbrar!

Hey Everyone!
Life in Segovia has been very good lately! It is interesting adjusting to the customs and new lifestyle, but it is very exciting. I have already had a couple days of classes and they are good. Most of my teachers are easy to understand and the classes sound like they will be really interesting! I am taking grammar (ah!), a Myths and Legends literature class, Cinema, and Art and culture. Along with this I'm planning on doing my senior project and a field experience in the Spanish schools! The school here is really old and gorgeous, but the walk to it is absolutely painful! Segovia is extraordinarily beautiful because it is hilly-and you can see everything from it. However, when walking to school it is a steep incline! The walk down is not too bad but the climb up with a backpack is brutal! Oh well it is good exercise! I am getting used to the Spanish schedule of life! I wake up in the morning for classes around 8 and drink some coffee with my Spanish mom, then I walk down to school. At 2 the entire town shuts down, everyone leaves their jobs and all the stores close so that everyone can go home and eat lunch! Lunch here in Spain is huge- it is the largest meal of the day and they generally have several dishes. My host mom is always trying to feed me more! ahh! I always have to tell her that I have definitely had enough :). They also eat a lot of meat here-which is good, although I'm not the biggest fan! Then after that everyone takes a nap and returns to work at like 4. I take advantage of this down time to go explore with friends!-then I go to class again for a couple hours! After class someone is always making plans so there is so much to do! On Monday we went to play cards at a bar, yesterday we went out for tapas, and today I went to coffee with Katie to review grammar- I know how studious and slightly uncool but it will most definitely help in the long run :)

I survived yesterday!!!- My host family told me that Tuesdays the 13th are bad luck!! :)

After evening adventures I go back to my house and we have dinner at 9:30- which is really late! After that my family watches the news or a movie in the living room and just hangs out. They are always so calm-never fighting or stressing out about things.

I went out on Monday night at 11 to hang out with some friends which was fun. It is normal to go out that late on a school night-my host mom wasn't phased at all!

The weather in Segovia has been relatively nice! It has been in the upper 30s low 40s and the snow is melting! Tuesday was awful all rainy and gross! Even with my boots my feet were all wet! But today was fantastic! The sun was out- the mountains were beautiful! It just makes me want to be productive! I told my host dad that and he thought that was pretty funny!

Speaking Spanish here has been tricky! I want to say so much more than I know how to-which is becoming a pain. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to improve-whether I should hit the grammar books, or just listen and talk-even if it is wrong. Oh well, I'm sure things will get easier- I have already learned a bunch of new vocabulary!

well-thats about all for now! It is almost 8-I am going to do some homework, eat dinner then go for a walk!
